SCRIP
What is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase scrip, you are purchasing gift cards that are used just like cash.
How do I get started?
Register for the program by contacting the school office. Begin recruiting friends and family. Purchase gift cards.
How/when do I buy scrip?
We will place a bulk order to Great Lakes Scrip Center weekly. Order forms will be available and must be returned to the school office along with your payment by 9:30 a.m. on Monday mornings.
How long does it take for the cards to arrive?
Scrip gift cards should arrive in our office within three business days.
How do I know what retailers offer scrip?
A list of participating retailers and their profit percentage is available in the school office.
When will my tuition account be credited?
Funds will be credited yearly from money raised during the previous school year.
What percentage of the raised funds will go toward my tuition?
100%! All profits you earn from the designated fundraiser and scrip gift cards will be applied to your tuition account.
How is my tuition account credited if my friends and family purchase gift cards?
Order forms include a place to list the benefiting family.
What happens if my child withdraws from WSCS?
Funds are non-transferrable and applicable only while your child remains enrolled. If for some unforeseen reason you withdraw your child, all funds will be retained and credited to the WSCS general budget.
Examples of ways to reduce your tuition with scrip:
- Shopping for your groceries. Giant Food offers 4%. Spending $200 monthly on groceries gives you a credit of $96 for the year.
- If your child’s grandparents shop at Walmart weekly, they could easily spend $200 a month. Walmart offers 2% which means you could have $48 credit for the year.
- Aunts and Uncles can help too. Olive Garden and Red Lobster offer 9%. If they eat out once a month spending approximately $25, that would give you a $27 savings for the year.
- You can even earn money while on vacation. Hyatt Hotels offer 9%. A 5 night stay would cost approximately $500. That’s a $45 credit to your account.
- Your neighbor can help by buying gas. The average car uses about 600 gallons per year. Even at $2 per gallon, that’s $1200. Sheetz offers 3& which gives you $36 toward tuition.
- Have a home improvement project coming up? Lowes offers 4%. A purchase of $300 at Lowe’s would credit your account with $12.
- The possibilities are endless! You are not asking others to buy something they don’t need, but instead to remember you with their everyday purchases. This will take some planning ahead but the benefits will be worth the effort!
